Easter 2008

Olivia's 1st Easter was quite an adventure. Good Friday was, in deed, GOOD. Olivia and I were able to spend some mommy-daughter time shopping on Friday as we waited for Shane, who had to work. During lunch Olivia decided to show me that she knows how to drink through a straw--I think her Papaw Tieman showed her a couple of times several months ago...and all of a sudden...voila! So, now her "thing" is drinking through a straw. HILARIOUS to see such a little one guzzling from a straw. I promise to make myself take a picture of this so you all can see and believe it!

Friday afternoon Olivia, YaYa, Shane and I made a fast break for Topsail...the first time we'd been there since Olivia was two weeks old. Saturday was warm, but really windy so the photo op I'd hoped for didn't quite work out. Nonetheless, we did take a few pictures...though not in the outfits I'd so carefully planned...just goes to show, you can't plan for everything!

We spent Saturday evening with Aunt Vicki and Uncle Preston...and the Easter Bunny visited! Sunday we went to church with my Grandmother at the church where my mom's family grew up. Luckily, the choir was performing their Easter Cantata...and Olivia sang THE ENTIRE TIME right along with them, much to the entertainment of everyone BUT her momma and daddy!

Four Front Teefers!

Ah, time is surely flying and our sweet "baby" Olivia is growing into such a little GIRL, more and more every day.

Yesterday I came home from work to discover that she'd actually crawled--though only two "steps"--that afternoon. This confirms my theory--she can in fact crawl IF she wanted; however, she rather roll here and there or simply grunt and whine until her daddy or I pick her up and take her wherever it is she wants to go. She has also began to attempt pulling up on things--the ottoman, the coffee table and this morning at 4:30 on the side of her crib.

Speaking of this morning at 4:30...Miss O has been working on her 4 front teefers for several weeks now. She's been such a trooper, too...no whining, no fussiness, just a bit of gritting and grinding from time to time. We've been giving her a dose of Motrin before bed the past few nights, which has helped out tremendously. But, poor baby, early this morning, as soon as the Motrin wore off, she was absolutely miserable! Shane and I both heard her awake in her crib, but figured she'd go back to sleep soon enough. I got up to make trip #14 to the restroom and when I came back to bed, there was Olivia...she's got that daddy of her's wrapped! The excuse I was given..."I could hear her grunting, so I thought I'd better go in and peep at her. And she was trying to pull herself up on the side of the crib. Afraid of what she may do if I left her there, I decided it'd be best to bring her in here with us." He's such a goner!

Needless to say, after a quick dose of Tylenol, Miss O dozed again at 5:30 but was up with bells by 7:15 this morning...and was pleased as punch to be snuggling in bed with her daddy! I'll have to say...he was pretty pleased too. He's such a goner!
